Who We Are
In 2005, Elan Ministries established a disaster relief branch of the ministry in response to the tragic destruction of the Gulf Coast caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Thus, HisHands2Go came into being, and focused volunteer efforts on assisting churches and individuals in re-establishing themselves in their community.
HH2G has two major roles in the restoration process:
Facilitate: HH2G offers assistance to churches and residents of New Orleans at no cost and with no strings attached. This is possible only because of the compassionate response of thousands of volunteers that have given a week (or more) of their time to assist the residents of New Orleans. Directly following the hurricanes of 2005, HH2G made a committment of 10yrs to providing volunteers with lodging, meals, tools, work projects, and acting as a liason between the volunteers and New Orleanians. It is an awesome experience to facilitate the volunteers and observe the works of God being carried out in and through them.
Support: Our staff works closely with the churches and homeowners as they walk the many steps of rebuilding their properties. The maze of building codes, funding, and stages of rebuilding are confusing to sift through. Many of the homeowners we come alongside are elderly, and limited in their funds and construction knowledge. Not only does HH2G offer physical labor, but also a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen to the unique stories of their experiences in life. We count it a true privilege to live out the command to “love your neighbor” in such a capacity.
HisHands2Go is based in New Orleans, LA, with plans to launch HisHands2Go Mobile: a global effort to assist with community development abroad in areas sustaining natural disaster repercussions.
